It was a random evening in 2005 that led to the fateful meeting of Mr. P and Psycho; the two happened to bump into each other at a musical instrument store and began jamming aimlessly. As these rendezvous grew more frequent, unbeknownst to the duo, a phenomenon was about to be born. Yearning for something more, Mr. P and Psycho decided to name that singularity Nikotin despite not having all the pieces.

However, in February 2008, through a common friend they were introduced to their youngest mate Charlie (rhythm guitar) and later brought in another close friend, their now bassist, Dirty. The jamming continued and some originals were created but the puzzle was still incomplete. Unanimously it was decided that Nikotin was missing a key element, until February 2009 when they acquired their lead vocalist Cruize, an active vocalist and guitarist for another local Metal band.

Cruize, together with Mr. P, Psycho, Charlie and Dirty, having had their fair share of mismatched line-ups, were ready to take over the music world with their mellow pop and extreme metal influenced rock alternative sound. Kicking off with a series of gigs and live shows, by performing at the Dubai Autodrome race pits, Nikotin haven’t looked back since. Bigger things were awaiting them as Nikotin went on to open for Ramzi at LiveNation’s UndeRage, which were soon followed by a show at the F1 FanZone (Abu Dhabi), performing at the Dubai Sound City festival and eventually a gig at Emirates Class 1 Powerboat Grand Prix. They released their first original Dance, Dance on their MySpace page and received a whopping 600 views in the first 3 days alone! Since then, they released Overloaded, Decide and Speedboat, appearing on local TV shows such as Dubai One’s Out & About and 20 Something.

نيكوتين(Nikotin): إن كروز، جنباً إلى جنب مع مستر بي، وبسايكو، وتشارلي، وديرتي، مستعدون دائماً لتصدر عالم الموسيقى بعذوبة موسيقى البوب وموسيقى الروك المتأثرة بألوان الموسيقى الأخرى. وكانت بداية انطلاقتهم مع سلسلة من الأغاني والعروض الحية في حلبة سباق دبي أوتودروم، ثم تقديم العرض الافتتاحي لحفل رامزي في UndeRage الخاص بلايف نيشن, وتلاها عرض في منطقة المشجعين (FanZone) فورمولا وان (أبوظبي)، وأداء في مهرجان دبي ساوند سيتي، وهناك أخيراً عرضها في سباق الجائزة الكبرى للقوارب السريعة (Emirates Class 1 Powerboat Grand Prix). وقد أصدرت أولى أعمالها الأصيلة "دانس دانس" (Dance, Dance)، تبعها أوفرلودد (Overloaded)، ديسايد (Decide) وسبيدبوت (Speedboat).

For almost 2 decades nomading in the venues of The emirates, are still presently going strong at The Majestic Hotel’s “Music Room” In Bur Dubai.

Flip Side consist of 5 members, a band diversified in various styles of music, from classic jazz to classic rock and blues and anything in between the music spectrum.

Flip Side takes pride in interpreting the genres of music in their own way ,although some songs remain true to the style in which originally played. Thus allowing all members of Flip Side to display an exciting and captivating ability, Musically and Vocally.

A truly versatile Band with a sense of audience musical tastes.
 
 فليب سايد (Flipside): تقيم هذه الفرقة عروضها في أماكن مختلفة من الإمارات العربية المتحدة منذ عقدين من الزمن، وما تزال موسيقاهم تصدح حتى الآن مدوية في قاعة الموسيقى لفندق ماجستيك في بر دبي. فليب سايد هي فرقة من خمسة أعضاء، تنوعت مواهبهم في مختلف الأساليب الموسيقية ابتداء من الجاز الكلاسيكي إلى الروك الكلاسيكي والبلوز، وكل ما يندرج بينهم من أطياف الموسيقى. وتفخر فليب سايد بأنها ترجمت الموسيقى بطريقتها الخاصة، مع أن بعض الأغاني حافظت بأمانة على أسلوبها الأصلي. فرقة متعددة المواهب تتمتع بحس يميز ألوانها الموسيقية الجماهيرية التي تتيح لجميع أعضائها إبراز مقدراتهم المثيرة والآسرة بالصوت والموسيقى.

Jonas Desai was born on the 18th of February 1986 in Skellefteå, Sweden. He is the youngest child in a family of 5 to a Swedish Mother and an Indian father. Music has always been a part of Jonas’ life. In the early days however, “jam sessions” with his brothers often took the backseat in favour of his other great love, Football. Jonas truly realized his musical passion when he picked up a guitar for the first time in 2002. He quickly mastered the guitar and started fine-tuning and shaping his voice to the characteristic yet versatile style of singing that we enjoy today. To start out, Jonas was covering tunes ranging from Bob Dylan to Craig David to Norah Jones and in 2006 he started writing his own music with the release of ‘Get me out’

John Mayer and John Legend, among many others, are Jonas’ biggest influences that have helped him develop as a musician and pursue his music career. It has since long, been his aspiration to work with the gentlemen above…

The balance between sports and music has taught Jonas many great lessons in life and allowed him to travel and develop further as a person and a musician. Jonas’ lyrics are very personal and are inspired by events in his life and his surroundings.
Jonas opened for Jesse Cook, David Gray and Robin Gibb at the Dubai International Jazz Festival during Feb 2008 shortly after releasing his first EP ‘Get me out’ through Involved Music. Jonas’ debut album is highly anticipated and expected to hit stores in Nov/Dec 2008.

وناس ديساي (Jonas Desai): ولد في 18 فبراير 1986 في سكيليفتيا، في السويد، لأم سويدية وأب هندي، وهو الأصغر سناً في عائلة مكونة من 5 أفراد. وقد أدرك جوناس شغفه بالموسيقى عندما التقط الغيتار لأول مرة عام 2002. وسرعان ما أتقن العزف على الغيتار، وبدأ صقل وتشذيب صوته إلى أن وصل إلى أسلوبه المميز والمتنوع الذي نراه اليوم. بدأ في العام 2006 بتأليف موسيقاه الخاصة. ومع إعادة إطلاق "غيت مي آوت" (Get me out) قدم العرض الافتتاحي لحفلات جيسي كوك، وديفيد غراي، وروبن جيب، ضمن مهرجان دبي الدولي لموسيقى الجاز خلال فبراير 2008، وذلك بعد فترة وجيزة من إطلاق عمله المطول "غيت مي آوت" من إنتاج إنفولفد ميوزيك (Involved Music).

Universal Rogue is a Dubai based rock band, consisting of front-man Khan, Michael Johns on Lead guitar, Sam Nasernia as the Drummer and Andrew Gibson on Bass guitar.

Originally formed in 2003, the band announced the new line up at the start of 2010, returning from a sabbatical during mid 2009. Having already played at minor music festivals and pubs all over Dubai, Universal Rogue created a niche as a part of Dubai’s original music circuit. Their songs ‘Stainless bond’, ‘Flash-funk’ and ‘Don’t let go’ are amongst fan-favorites and have also been featured on local radio shows and as of recent times, TV as well.

Due to the change in lineup, the band have postponed the release of their EP stating that 2010 will be very creative and busy time and that fans can definitely expect the EP out in stores before Summer 2010.

Their musical style ranges from alternative, contemporary & hard rock. In an April 2009 article, Khan revealed the influences on the band include Dave Matthews Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, The Doors, Tool, Skid Row, Bad Company and many other bands from the 70’s and 80’s.

The Dubai Bike Festival will feature Universal Rogue at the Piazza stage where the band will perform songs off their upcoming EP as well as tracks specially written for Bikers who will be present at the Festival.

يونيفيرسال روغ (Universal rogue): فرقة لموسيقى الروك مقرها دبي، تتألف من رئيسها خان، ومايكل جونز على الغيتار الرئيسي، وسام ناسيرنيا على الإيقاع، وأندرو جيبسون على غيتار الباس. تأسست أصلاً في العام 2003، وقد أعلنت الفرقة عن أعضائها الجدد في بداية 2010. ويتنوع أسلوبها الموسيقي بين موسيقى الروك الصاخبة والمعاصرة والبديلة. وقد تأثر أسلوبهم الموسيقي بشكل أساسي بفرق السبعينيات والثمانينيات، مثل فرقة ديف ماثيوز (Dave Matthews Band)، وكريدانس كلير ووتر ريفايفل (Creedence Clearwater Revival)، وذا بيتلز (The Beatles)، وذا دورز (The Doors)، و تول (Tool)،وسكيد رو (Skid Row)، وباد كومباني (Bad Company).

Beat Antenna originally formed in Dubai, May 2007 with their name being inspired by a passage in Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones’ autobiography, where he self-confessed "I'd rather look upon myself as an antenna or some go-between. I'm just around. Songs are running around - they're all there, ready to grab."

The band grew from two members to four in late 2007 and appeared on the Dubai music scene in July 2008. They have taken time to develop a rock and roll sound that could be labeled as one of their many influences; The Verve, Zeppelin, The Stones and more. Pigeon hole them if you will, underneath it all you will find the strength of song writing that refuses to be ignored.

The majority of the band will have no doubt malfunctioned when they first moved to Dubai. Lead singer Neil Harrison and drummer Joseph Gardener Lowe both have their roots firmly in the North East of England, Sunderland to be precise.
Bass guitarist Alan Short was born even further a field in sunny Cork, Ireland meaning the odd member out is lead guitarist and pianist Andy Boux, born in shandy drinking London.

Having only played a hand full of gigs and with two of two of them supporting international artists Arrested Development, the band have set their sights high but by the sound of their debut EP it is a good start to justifying their ambitions.

 بيت أنتينا (Beat Antenna): تأسست بيت أنتينا أصلاً في دبي في مايو 2007، وقد استوحي اسمها من مقطع في السيرة الذاتية لعازف الجيتار كيث ريتشاردز من فرقة ذا رولينج ستونز (The Rolling Stones)، حيث اعترف بنفسه "أُفضّل أن أرى نفسي كهوائي (أنتينا) أو كوسيط ما. فأنا هنا. الأغاني تصدح من حولي- إنها جميعاً موجودة، وليس علي سوى التقاطها".

ظهرت الفرقة على الساحة الغنائية في دبي في يوليو 2008. ومن التأثيرات الواضحة على موسيقاهم: ذا فيرف (The Verve)، زيبلين (Zeppelin)، ذا ستونز (The Stones). ويوجد  اثنان من أعضائها يساهمان بدعم الفنانين العالميين في (Arrested Development)، وقد وضعت الفرقة نصب أعينها منذ البداية تطلعات بدت بعيدة المنال، ولكن أداءهم الأول (EP) مثّل انطلاقة جيدة لتبرير طموحاتهم.

Sandwash are a UAE based rock band who play something very unique: music about the ups and downs of being a 20-something in Dubai.

Formed in 2004, Sandwash began as a raw punk/rock outfit. But just as the music scene began to grow and develop, so too did the band’s sound, until they became known for pioneering what can only be called groovecore: a form of groovy rock characterized by vintage guitar riffs, modern dynamics and soaring sing-along choruses.

Sandwash have been performing around the region for several years and have received a lot of press attention. They were the first local band to feature on the cover of Time Out Dubai, and their singles have been played on local radio stations such as Dubai 92FM. They have performed alongside some of the most popular musicians to play Dubai, including Simple Plan and Arrested Development. Their song ‘Alabaster’ has been used as the soundtrack in a Mountain Dew TV commercial.
This year, Sandwash became the first local rock band to be featured on Dubai One TV’s new show Twenty Something.
Sandwash’ first studio album is set to be released in February 2010.

Continuously voted as Dubai’s best live band, Sandwash’s colourful personas, dynamic song writing and unpredictable onstage antics make them one of the biggest highlights at any local concert.

ساند ووش (Sandwash): فرقة لموسيقى الروك مركزها الإمارات العربية المتحدة، تعزف موسيقى مميزة جداً عن محاسن ومساوئ أن تكون في العشرينيات من عمرك في دبي. وتؤدي فرقة ساند ووش عروضها في جميع أنحاء المنطقة منذ سنوات عديدة، وتحظى باهتمام كبير من الصحافة. وقد أدوا إلى جانب عدد من أكثر الموسيقيين شعبية الذين قدموا حفلاتهم في دبي، بما في ذلك Simple Plan وArrested Development. وقد استخدمت أغنيتهم "ألاباستر" (Alabaster) كخلفية موسيقية لإعلان تلفزيوني عن ماونتن ديو (Mountain Dew).
